Nancy Goodloe

The workplan and priority of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission (DEI) is to create opportunities for residents to come together, engage with each other, and develop relationships that will foster greater understanding among all cultures represented in Ellensburg. I am the chairperson of this commission. Recently, the efforts of the Commission have been scrutinized and criticized by numerous residents of the city. I have attentively listened to testimonies that reveal a significant misunderstanding of what DEI entails. Members of the Commission and I are actively working to address these issues and identify ways to deliver effective programming that leverages community partners and enhances community inclusion. I am committed to strengthening our efforts and advocating for inclusion and belonging for all residents of Ellensburg. My objective is to achieve unity in our community, not division.

In my capacity as the Council liaison to the County Homeless and Affordable Housing Committee, I facilitate seamless coordination between the City Housing Commission and the County Committee. These entities are the sole providers of funding for affordable housing construction in the city, making our collaboration vital for the efficient and effective allocation of resources. I am committed to continuing my involvement in these essential discussions. 

The Council is obligated to proactively address Our Strategic Pillars by employing innovative ideas and solutions to secure a robust future for the city. Versatility and flexibility are essential values as the City Council endeavors to manage our growth while preserving our historic foundation of diligence and excellence. I advocate for sensible governance. I bring compassion, extensive experience, expertise, sound judgment, strategic thinking, personal fortitude, and courage to collaborate with the Council in shaping our future.
